JOB SEARCH TIP – CONTROL YOUR PHONE AND EMAIL

Woman with bright red fingernails holding Hire Me sign on a small blackboard with wood frame. Hire is in red chalk, and Me is in white chalk.

If you want a job… check phone messages daily, and clear excess messages out. Return calls with a call, not a text (unless requested)!

1) If a potential employer can’t get in touch with you, you won’t get the interview.

2) If your messages are full up and the employer can’t leave you a message, they will move on to someone else.

3) If you follow up with text that wasn’t requested, they may not respond. Companies often call from landlines – they are rarely text-enabled.

Check your text messages daily, and clear excess messages out of here as well. Same as above – if you don’t respond quickly, you likely won’t get an interview. Be sure to respond in the manner requested: phone call, email, or text.

Check your email daily, including your spam folder. Not everything automatically goes into your email folder, some goes to spam. By reviewing both, you won’t miss an important email from a potential employer. Whether they are scheduling an interview, following up on recent interview, or sending an employment contract, you don’t want to miss the email.
