Adapt well to changing plans and priorities and deal comfortably with ambiguity: Who Writes This Stuff?

Brown paper torn, with ambiguous written underneath the tear.

Well, this should NEVER be in a job ad: “Must adapt and deal comfortably with ambiguity.” However, I have been seeing it quite a bit in recent years.  Particularly since COVID.  That isn’t an excuse to put such a statement in a job ad.  Certainly, this occurs in a workplace occasionally, but ambiguity is defined as confusion, uncertainty, and vagueness. Why would anyone work for you, especially if you put it in your job description? It speaks to ongoing issues!  Jobseekers, you can apply for a job with this silly phrase in the ad, but please ask them to explain what they mean.  If they can’t, isn’t that a bit ambiguous?  Just saying!
