If you want to be seen as the professional you are (or want to be) during a job search or in your career, make sure your social media reflects that professionalism. Remember, you do not have to engage beyond respectful and positive discourse in combative, disrespectful discussions. In fact, you don’t have to engage at all!!!
We are so quick to filter our own looks, but not what we say in social media. Being “anonymous” behind a keyboard unfortunately creates an atmosphere of empowerment that can be harmful to your relationships and mental health. It can also negatively impact those you are connected to directly.
Learn to embrace the fact that others have differing opinions and respect those views. We don’t have to like the stance, but liking and respecting are two very different things. By accepting others for their views, and learning more about what informed that belief, you create a bond. That relationship is far more valuable than any opinion.
Don’t miss out on expanding your world and cultivating healthier, more positive connections online. Your overall wellbeing will benefit and you will have a more peaceful, productive, and thriving life and career.
